Built by Athletes, For Athletes

We connect high school athletes with real college athletes who’ve been through the recruiting process so families can make confident, informed decisions.

Company Purpose

Our core mission is to foster meaningful connections between prospective college athletes and current collegiate players, enriching their journey through mentorship and directed guidance. By using our platform, aspiring college athletes will gain invaluable insights into athletic programs, the intricacies of balancing academic pursuits with athletic commitments, and the essential tools required for making informed and holistic decisions regarding their next four years.

The success of this platform is intricately intertwined with the dependability of its current collegiate players and the caliber of information given to prospective students during interactions. There exists a discernible demand among parents for a service of this nature, one that The Game Plan effectively addresses. However, it is imperative for The Game Plan to ascertain that college athletes engaging on this platform dispense prudent counsel that aids in the development and advancement of students, avoiding reliance solely on personal anecdotes.

Meet the Founder

Taylor Nielsen

Founder & CEO  ·  Harvard ’22  ·  Applied Math & Data Science

Taylor Nielsen, a former collegiate soccer athlete at Harvard University from 2018 to 2022, pursued studies in Applied Mathematics and Data Science during her tenure. Originally from Kirkland, Washington, Taylor grew up playing for Crossfire Premier, developing both her skills and her understanding of what it takes to reach the next level. After graduating from Harvard, she coached a high school girls’ soccer team in Portland, Oregon, where she saw firsthand the challenges parents and athletes face when navigating recruiting, development, and the college athletics journey.

The current transition from high school to collegiate athletics presents considerable challenges, particularly for athletes not affiliated with elite teams. Stringent regulations governing communication between college coaches and high school players contribute to confusion and frustration among those aspiring to explore collegiate programs.Driven by her experiences as both a Division I athlete and a coach, Taylor created Athletes Game Plan to give families authentic, firsthand insights from current and former college athletes — helping the next generation make informed, confident decisions about their athletic futures.

Why Athlete's Game Plan

The college recruiting process is overwhelming. Highlight reels, coach emails, campus visits, NCAA rules. Most families don't know where to start, especially without insider connections. We match high school athletes (ages 10–18) with current and former college athletes who volunteer as mentors.

They've been through it. They know what coaches look for, what questions to ask on visits, and how to balance academics with athletics. No generic advice. No gatekeeping. Just real conversations with people who've been in your shoes.
